brachio-
brachio- before a vowel, brachi-, element meaning "arm," from Gk. brakhion "arm," perhaps originally "upper arm," lit. "shorter," and from brakhys "short," in contrast to the longer forearm (see BRIEF (Cf. brief) (adj.)).
