attercop
attercop "spider," O.E. attorcoppe, lit. "poison-head," from ator "poison, venom," from P.Gmc. *aitra- "poisonous ulcer" (Cf. O.N. eitr, O.H.G. eitar "poison;" Ger. eiter "pus," O.H.G. eiz "abscess, boil;" O.E. atorcræft "art of poisoning") + copp "top, summit, round head," probably also "spider" (Cf. COBWEB (Cf. cobweb) and Du. spinne-cop "spider").
