aneurysm
aneurysm (n.) early 15c., from M.L. aneurisma, from Gk. aneurysmos "dilation," from aneurynein "to dilate," from ana- "up" (see ANA- (Cf. ana-)) + eurynein "widen," from eurys "broad, wide," from PIE root *were- "wide, broad" (Cf. Skt. uruh "broad, wide").
