telepathy 1882, coined (along with telæsthesia) by English psychologist Frederic Myers (1843-1901), from TELE- (Cf. tele-) + -PATHY (Cf. -pathy). Telepathic is first recorded 1884. The noun telepath is a 1907 back formation.
