phraseology

phraseology
phraseology 1550s, coined erroneously in Gk. as phraseologia, from Gk. phrasis (see PHRASE (Cf. phrase)) + -logia (see -LOGY (Cf. -logy)). The correct form would be *phrasiology. Originally "a phrase book," meaning "way of arranging words, characteristic style of expression" is from 1660s.
