klutz 1967, Amer.Eng., from Yiddish klots "clumsy person, blockhead," lit. "block, lump," from M.H.G. klotz "lump, ball." Cf. Ger. klotz "boor, clod," lit. "wooden block" (Cf. CLOT (Cf. clot)).
