keelson

keelson
keelson also kelson, 1620s, altered (by influence of keel (n.)) from M.E. kelsyng (late 13c.), which probably is of Scandinavian origin (Cf. Swed. kölsvin, Dan., Norw. kjèlsvin, from root of O.N. kjölr (see KEEL (Cf. keel) (n.)) + swin "swine," used of timber (see SWINE (Cf. swine)). Or else from a similar Low German source.
